I have experienced this from three perspectives. As a student, as a departing minister and as the new guy. Honestly, the worse case is with the student. Change is a way of life throughout the teen years but the Church is the Rock these teens and singles cling to. It's the only stability the can see in many cases. When that stability becomes dysfunctional it can really be a destructive situation.

That's the ambulance for these teens. They need a tender and yet firm hand helping them make the transition and/or transformation. Someone that can come in and redirect their focus to Jesus and His Love and Faithfulness. Becoming familiar with His stability rather than that of ministers.
Any way, I appreciate what God is doing through you. Let me know when you need anything!
